Pickups from Srinagar airport run through the day as flights land. Check in to the hotel, then join the group for dinner, where your trip captain talks you through the week. Overnight in Srinagar.
Get up early for the floating vegetable market at sunrise, then walk through the Mughal gardens. After that you spend time in the old city workshops where papier-mache is painted and sozni embroidery is stitched by hand. The day ends with a shikara ride at dusk.
The drive up to Gulmarg takes about two hours, and the meadow sits at about 2,650 m. Gondola Phase I goes to Kongdoori and Phase II to Apharwat when it is running (tickets are extra). You spend the night in Gulmarg.
This is the longest drive of the trip, back down the valley and out through Pampore and Anantnag. In Pahalgam there is time for an afternoon walk along the Lidder. In the evening, a local family shows you how Wazwan is cooked. Overnight in Pahalgam.
The day goes to Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari. In the evening you drive back to Srinagar and check in to a deluxe houseboat on Dal Lake, with the whole boat to the group.
Breakfast on the water, one last shikara across the lake, then airport drops.
