A long weekend on Dal Lake: two nights on a deluxe houseboat, a sunrise shikara to the floating market, the Mughal gardens and the old city.
We pick you up at Srinagar airport and take you to the lake, where a shikara carries you and your bags out to the houseboat. In the evening you go out again for a slow ride on the lake, then have dinner on board. Overnight on the houseboat.
An early start: the shikara leaves around 5 am for the floating vegetable market, where farmers trade produce from boat to boat. Later you drive to the Nishat, Shalimar and Chashme Shahi gardens and up to the Shankaracharya temple, a climb of a couple of hundred steps with a view over the whole city. The rest of the day is for the handicraft lanes of the old city, then back to the houseboat for dinner and the night.
Breakfast on board, then a transfer to Srinagar airport. Security there starts at the outer gate, so leave a little extra time.
